I am in it with all my heart. Award winning, contemporary artist Debi Starr feels happiest when creating. She has been a creator since she was a child, preferring blank paper and crayons to a coloring book. Before Converse High Tops came in colors, Debi dyed hers pink.
Starr has always thought outside of the box, and her creativity has always been limitless. However, after two years, the blustery winters blew Debi back to Texas. Debi Starr has taught art to children and adults for thirty years and has been featured in numerous exhibits, juried shows, solo shows, galleries and events.
She gives back to several communities by donating pieces to various fundraisers and painting live at events. She is diverse in style, subject matter and mediums. Debi uses acrylics, inks, watercolors, metallics and epoxy resin. Her Precious Metals creations shine and sparkle much like the artist. The unusual combination of materials encourages the viewer to take a closer look. Whatever the painting may be, it is evident that the artist has put a piece of herself within her creation.
Lee Gallery February 17, Artwalk G. Facebook Twitter Instagram. Debi Starr. Close your eyes. This art sale is interesting because it is not highly advertised. I try to make it to this sale every year, but never seem to catch wind of it until the day of, this year I had heard of it early enough to plan for it. The ads did not say where inside the casinos the event would be found, but at the Sunset Station there were signs posted near the entrances directing would be buyers to the upstairs Sunset Room in their meeting halls.
Once inside the sale room, the layout was straightforward and self-explanatory. The room was filled with paintings arraigned by size, the smaller pieces laid flat on tables and the larger ones propped up on chairs.
Abstract and surrealistic genres seemed to be missing from the fair, or were already sold out at the time. They were all certainly well worth every penny as the quality was good and the art perfect for what attendees were most likely looking for.
The event was rather busy with a steady flow of patrons coming and going. Most seemed to be making purchases as well, so the sale was definitely a success. Frames were also offered for a nominal price or you could add a hanger for one dollar to make the painting ready to hang when you got home.
