Here is a Gitane Criterium complete except for pedals and wheels. Lightweight French Super Vitus lugged frame with the same geometry as the three models above it in Gitane's catalog. Frame is in excellent shape with very little wear to paint and decals.

Some small corrosion around bb and seat tube lugs but very little rust. The bike came from California with few photos and little description and I got it BIN hoping it was a Turned out to be a 60 or 24 inches in the catalog. It does not show overuse. Wear is moderate to normal. Brake lever hoods; one is ok and the right is cracked and needs to be replaced.

Crankset is in pretty good shape and drivetrain overall is ok to good or better,Rear Simplex springs feel weak. I will include another partial Simplex RD for parts. Considering the age. The frameset is in excellent condition. This frameset includes the original Campagnolo headset. This is a very unique frame with 3 colored rings as part of the seat tube, chrome accents, French flag colors hand painted on the top stay tubing by the seatpost clamp and very ornate lugs.

The decals are mostly intact; notice the old globe logo on the headtube The dropouts are not stamped. The bottom bracket holder has English threading. Neither the fork nor the frame is drilled for brakes, making this a true track frameset. There are very few examples of this frame in the United States and no evidence of any for sale on the internet over the last decade.

In terms of condition; the paint looks great with the exception of a few light scratches and paint chips here and there. There are some large scratches on the top tube from the original owner placing the top tube in a bike stand and not using the seat post.

There is some minor pitting on the chrome. But nothing that cannot be buffed out. Lastly, there are NO dents on the frame or fork, but there is a minor impression from a wrench on the right rear top stay tubing that connects to the seat clamp area, right below the tri-color French flag paint see in the last photo Otherwise the rest of. To the best of my knowledge I bought it from the original owner who got the bike as a teenager in Palo Alto. I state that because the fork steerer has a partial SPLIT from tightening the quill stem but was ridden this way for years presumably.
