Austin bailey trust

Thank you for your very generous donation. We are a small, constantly developing charity, but lack the funds to achieve our goals and dream.

Your donation is extremely welcome and will make a huge difference, allowing us to offer more disabled people the opportunity to take part in this exciting sport. Action on Hearing Loss Cymru - February A big thank you to the Austin Bailey Foundation for your grant. Such support is crucial to ensuring that we gain awareness of the charity to support our vital work with people that are deaf and hard of hearing. The grant will enable us to provide free information and support to people in Wales and expand our bank of volunteers.

Your generous donation has enabled us to provide specialist Bobath therapy to a child in the Swansea area who has cerebral palsy and supported us in our aim to improve the quality of life of children in Wales who have cerebral palsy.

We still don't know what the future holds for him but I've a feeling he's going to continue to surprise us We just wish this was available for all children with brain injuries. Your donation will have a real impact in providing medical care as well as emotional and practical support to individuals and their loved ones who face terminal illness.

On the background of an increasingly stretched NHS, it is your trust and commitment that enables us to reach more people living with a terminal illness each year.

January I am writing to express my thanks for your kind donation to our debt counselling project. This gift will help us provide a service that is badly needed in our area. Since the demise of the ferry service to Ireland, and the subsequent closure of the Seafarers Centre at Swansea, the need to have a presence in the Port of Swansea has been much greater.

Seafarers come from a number of different nationalities, with diverse cultures, languages and faiths. They often find themselves away from home and family for extended periods, some as many as nine months. Austin Bailey Foundation have supported the development of new sessions of our Seedlings parent and toddler groups in Llys Nini, Penllergaer. These sessions are weekly opportunities for child-initiated play and learning in a natural woodland environment.

We provide a safe space which encourages respect for self, others and the environment and generate an atmosphere of co-operation with Forest School staff, parents and children working together as a team.

There is a careful balance of structural activities alongside time and space for free play and a regular rhythm to each session, creating a space where the children can gain the confidence to make independent discoveries, explore and extend ideas, and develop problem solving skills and creativity.

Parents tell us that this is often a calm, therapeutic part of the week for them as well as their children as they have lives that are busy and demanding.

Penplas Family Centre - November My favourite memory is going on a trip — we had such a great day in the woods, it was nice to get away from home and just do something different! Paul Popham Foundation - November Thank you Austin Bailey Foundation for providing the Paul Popham Fund with much needed funds to support our Befriending Service to help kidney patients in Swansea to lead a better quality of life.

Pennard Parish Hall - November Pennard Parish Hall embarked in on a programme of refurbishment. This included insulation, central heating, new kitchen floor, redecoration throughout, and a new roof over the toilet block. At the time of the decoration the curtains were mismatched we suspect things that people had left over , faded and not hanging on suitable rails.

This did not give a welcoming feel to the building. We now have new curtains throughout with blackout linings. The colour matches the chairs and the whole building has much more of a welcome. In addition to the provision of young parent specific groups, we have used some of the money we were generously granted to fund some childcare sessions at a local nursery. This has enabled our young parents to be able to access some of our other skills workshops; three of our mums are now working towards their Agored Cymru food preparation accreditation!

As you can see, the money you granted us has made a HUGE difference. Spinal Injuries Association - October Talking to someone who has been through a similar experience and is now living an independent and fulfilling life has a hugely positive impact on newly-injured people and their families as they adjust to this life-changing injury.

Clase Family Centre - September We had two coaches with approximately 85 adults and children excited to see the animals. We arrived at am in the beautiful Brecon Beacons Mountains and all quickly dispersed to see what the farm had to offer. It is a fabulous place with farm animals, tractor rides, water rides, interactive show, pony rides and indoor play area.

One child celebrated his birthday there with us too and it was a great place for the children to be safe and explore and enjoy. All enjoyed and there were lots of sleeping children on the way back. Thank you so much for the grant from the Austin Bailey Foundation that enabled this trip and allowed us to offer a reduced rate to the families so that they could all enjoy a day out at the farm, learning about the animals and spending quality time together.

Glantawe Lions Club - August The guests were treated to a sing-a-long by Musical Memories, and a wonderful buffet and cakes. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and went home feeling happy.

Thank you so very much to the Austin Bailey Foundation. The funds you send us make a huge difference. Without them we would really struggle. Our children will be arriving on Sunday 23rd July and once again, all our trips will be provided free of cost except a special to Folly Farm.

Circus Starr - May We are so delighted that The Austin Bailey Foundation is able to support our event by giving these children the chance to create memories and forget their everyday struggles for an afternoon. As an organisation, we passionately believe that fun matters and should be available to every child and family regardless of their circumstances.

I would like to share with you how your generous gift has been spent for the benefit of the children of St. Four children along with two adults were confirmed by the Bishop and it was lovely to use the Godly Play materials to complement their learning. Renewable World - May IMPACTs action has included: Establishing a school health club, 25 children and two teachers have been trained in how to check for basic symptoms of ill-health in their fellow pupils.

Handwashing water tanks have been installed next to the toilet block, so that children can keep their hands clean and prevent the spread of disease. IMPACT has provided the school with vegetable seeds and gardening tools for children to grow nutritious vegetables. The school has also been provided with tree saplings for each pupil to grow in the school grounds, combatting environmental degradation. Your grant has helped to protect children from the threat of needless disability and enhanced their ability to learn in school, which will improve their prospects in later life.

Recent Distributions. Recent Feedbacks. Local Charities. Local Churches. Overseas Charities. Former Projects. Photo Gallery. Guidelines for Applicants. Contact Us. Austin Bailey Foundation. Factors taken into consideration when trustees consider applications. Overseas Charities 1. We are a small family trust.

Due to the volume of applications, we usually have to put a cut-off on further applications from about three months before each meeting. It is important therefore to submit your application as early as possible to avoid disappointment. As a small foundation we sympathise with other small organisations who lack the resources for major fundraising campaigns.

We do naturally scrutinise all applications very carefully for any trace of fraudulent applications. However, larger charities are definitely not excluded. They are often in a position to undertake projects that would not be feasible for smaller organisations.

In such circumstances, bigger charities will be supported. The trustees tend not to support high profile disasters where there is a lot of media coverage and public fundraising. On the other hand, we are very sympathetic to the many 'hidden emergencies' that are often equally catastrophic but have little or no publicity. Whilst recognising that real need exists in even the wealthiest of countries, our policy tends to avoid giving grants to developed countries, including Eastern Europe and to BRIC countries Brazil, Russia, India and China.

The emphasis is therefore towards Africa, poorer parts of Latin America and the Caribbean and the poorer countries of Asia. The trustees have a strong preference to give grants where work is self-sustaining. Organisations that ask their beneficiaries to involve and educate other needy people will stand a better chance of obtaining a grant.

Organisations re-applying within 12 months of receipt of their last grant are unlikely to be successful. This simply reflects the fact we have far more applications than we can satisfy.

Where the number of applications materially exceeds funds likely to be available for distribution at the next meeting, we may impose an early cut-off. In such circumstances we will write to you explaining this has happened and invite you to reapply for the next meeting.
